Bubble dynamics - From sea and space to health applications
My research aims to bridge the different areas dealing with bubbles in the bloodstream, from environmentally triggered endogenous bubbles to engineered contrast agents for ultrasound imaging & therapy. In particular, my collaborators and I currently focus on 1) Studying the cardiovascular pathological threshold and associated inflammatory response to circulatory bubble dynamics which can lead to decompression sickness; 2) Investigating how the modelling of decompression bubbles, which includes other environmental physiology factors, can be applied to research in cardiovascular imaging and cancer treatment.
